The soft rippling watercolor effects on this bowl makes it hard to believe it’s made out of layers of glass. The soft smooth translucent finish on the glass allows just enough light to come through to highlight all the different colors. This bowl was fused multiple times in the kiln to get the organic shape just right. Fused glass is typically melted into a 6mm thickness which is glass’s happy state but this piece is compressed under immense weight as it is fused to get a thinner, more delicate profile.
